By BARBARA LANG Columnist The Holmes County fair board is excited to present professional comedians Jay Snyder and Leslie Battle, along with local talent, John Lorson and Bob Sigler on Tuesday, Aug. On the CSB Stage on the Green at the new fairground, Harvest Ridge. Kathy Schlabach, fair board director said, 'We wanted to try something different at the CSB Stage on the Green this year. Local comedy nights sponsored by the Killbuck Valley Writers' Guild at the Hotel Millersburg have been well received, so we're bringing our own Stand up Comedy Night to the Holmes County Fair.' John Lorson and Bob Sigler are popular repeat performers at Stand Up Comedy Night. Lorson writes a weekly humor column 'Send Help' and is developing a weekly comedy show that will air on TheVoiceofHolmes-County.com beginning this fall. He was honored as 'Regional Writer of the Year' for 2015 at the annual Wayne College Writer's Workshop for his book, 'Send Help, Delights, Dilemmas and Delusions of a Modern Midwestern Man' (1999). ![]() 'What do you call a snowman in the desert?' He draws his inspirations from his zany everyday life, his kids, pets and job. Lorson and Sigler will be the warm-up acts for Leslie Battle and Jay Snyder. Battle is a Texas native who began her comedy career after an 'uncivilized divorce.' She has performed since July 2011 on stages throughout the midwest. In May 2015, she won the title of Columbus (Ohio's) Funniest Person in the Funnybone Talent Search. In July 2015, she won the Crackers Comedy Club Open Mic Contest in Indianapolis. Mother of three young adults, her humor includes stories from her life as a soldier, mom and divorcee, as well as observations about American Pop Culture. Battle offers a unique perspective and says things that other people think fairly regularly, but aren't quite comfortable with saying. Snyder's blue collar comedy keeps you laughing because of his side splitting story telling and real-life blunders. From bar fights to police lights, this 'criminal non-mastermind' keeps it downright hilarious. His likeability and witty banter takes you on his daily misadventures with him and will have you laughing until it hurts. Snyder grew up on the mean streets of rural Ohio and his comedy is loved by all. Church groups enjoy his fresh humor and quick wit. More raucous crowds get a kick out of his hillbilly hilarity.
